Philanthropy for Climate: We Organized a Civil Society Consultation Meeting
As TÜSEV, we organized an online consultation meeting with civil society organizations on May 7 to explore the ways to act together against the climate crisis. A total of 21 organizations participated in the meeting, not only expert organizations working directly in the field of climate, but also organizations in thematic areas such as education, child welfare, gender, and disability. This diversity offered a valuable opportunity to better understand the intersectionality of the climate crisis and to develop meaningful solutions.
The main objective of the consultation was to gather views and suggestions for localizing the International Philanthropy Commitment on Climate Change, which is coordinated by Philea and WINGS within the scope of the global #PhilanthropyForClimate movement. The global reflections of this commitment, which has been signed by over 900 organizations worldwide, were discussed. Participants also exchanged ideas on how to contribute to this process in Turkiye and how to develop areas for joint action.
This meeting demonstrated the potential to establish a shared foundation for civil society in Turkiye to reduce its environmental impact and integrate a climate lens into their work. TUSEV will continue working towards a more sustainable future with all organizations that view the climate crisis as a matter of social justice.
